The Power Rangers franchise is back.. again and Playmates has taken over the toy license with their new Re-ignition line.
These aren’t collector-grade figures like super robot chogokin. They’re designed as actual toys for kids.
The whole line comes packaged in green boxes which definitely help with nostalgic vintage vibes.

Blade Blaster
In blaster mode, the toy measures about 11 inches and features a bright red and white color scheme with silver accents and painted blue details. I noticed the toy feels somewhat light, likely due to using three button cell batteries instead of AA batteries. While the overall quality is decent for a children’s toy, some details differ from the original, such as a gray trigger instead of black.
The blade blaster includes various sound effects that cycle through somewhat randomly, including “kiai” sounds, “blade blasters up” phrases, Power Rangers theme music, and blaster sound effects. The toy features both lights and sounds activated by the trigger, providing an interactive play experience that captures the essence of the original weapon from the show.
Transforming to blade mode involves pulling back the stock and flipping up the grip, extending the weapon to 17 inches. The blade tip appears to be made of softer rubber plastic for safety. I noted some differences from the original, including the blade’s less metallic appearance and missing silver details in the middle. There’s also a holster mode at 13 inches, though it lacks the stun gun sounds some might expect.
Power Morpher
This is morpher looks a little different than the toys I grew up with. First you’ll notice it looks a little flat. The plastic is matte and a bit blocky.
Each power coin lacks shine but when you insert them into the morpher they play each dinozords, sound effect.
Still cool to have. It’ll also play the dinozord sound effect when that comes out. Some fans found a hidden easter egg that lets you play the tigerzord sound as well. It could be a hint for things to come.

Final Thoughts
Overall the line has some pretty good features. It’s great for parents who grew up on the show and want to share it with their kids.
